As a former children's librarian, I can attest to the popularity of pirates. Where Do Pirates Go on Vacation? is a worthy addition for the pirate-obsessed young reader. Childhood is a time to enrich young minds and encourage their vivid imaginations. Kim Ann has laid out the story beautifully, similar to Jane Yolen's Dinosaur books. Each double-page spread has a one-line question or sentence that will keep kids engaged. The illustrations by Nejla Shojaie are top-notch. The diverse cast of buccaneers includes a captain in a wheelchair. The settings are full of color and action. Kids will eagerly turn the pages to see what the pirates might do next. Kids and parents that are familiar with this series will be excited to see this latest installment. Where Do Pirates Go on Vacation? is a book that is sure to please all those who love the sea.
