When The Banshee Howls by John W. Leys is a beautiful collection of poems about various subjects like life and loss. We can see how magnificently this is done by how he brings these poems to life. The Wild speaks about the unknown in the wilderness. Haunted is about the loss of someone. I loved the phrase, "There is a hole in the house where you should be," which really conjured up a lot of emotion. I Can Still Feel You is about the memory of someone and how you can still feel them close to you even if they are gone. Down The Tracks is about how life is not like a winding road but more like a train going fast to the next destination and inevitably the end. In I Can Reach You, John talks about the struggle of losing someone and how they are no longer close to you.
When The Banshee Howls by John W. Leys is a fantastic selection of poems to make you think about life and love. Accompanied by beautiful photographs and drawings, he really paints a beautiful picture for you. He talks about how poets are liars and packrats and the feeling of running away but not being able to escape your past. This is a beautiful set of poems designed to make you think about your place in the world. Beautifully written, the poems, photos, and drawings combine to tell a complete story well worth a read. If you are a lover of poetry and photography I suggest you look at this book. You will not be disappointed. I highly recommend this book.
