The profoundly simple and touching message of When I’m With Jesus by Kimberly Rae and illustrated by Phyllis Keels is a special gift for those who have someone who has gone to Heaven. The author has created a multi reading level book which has larger print to be used as a read-aloud book, as well as a smaller, more advanced version for an older child. The book answers the questions which children and adults alike need to have answered while grieving. Through the color pictures, with simple text and scripture references scattered throughout, the reader or listener will come to understand that the transition from Earth to Heaven is a joyful thing rather than a frightening end. The book also includes a list of the things that will be in Heaven and the things that will not, as well as the Gospel message, put forth in a simple yet detailed manner.
Kimberly Rae and Phyllis Keels have created a masterpiece, which not only answers questions for children young and old, but reaches out in a profound way even to an adult. The adult who reads this book aloud to a grieving child will be deeply moved, even to the point of tears as they also realize that their loved one has gone on to a better place and will never stop loving them. The addition of the Gospel message is the perfect ending for this book and gives even greater strength to the concepts that are depicted in the colorful pages. Truthful, encouraging and full of life, When I’m With Jesus demonstrates that the resurrection is the greatest victory.
