Werewolf Nights is a romantic fantasy adventure by author Mari Hamill. Borrowing tropes from classic horror movies to spin a more light-hearted tale, the action centers on a small town with a famous werewolf legend, and the Hollywood moguls who move in to try to capitalize on a potentially dangerous legend. Local lady Catherine Mercy lands the leading role in their drama, and her jaded past relationships melt away as she begins to tame the heart of womanizer and co-star Greg Byron. From here, however, the plot takes a supernatural twist, as the lines between legend and history are blurred and Greg’s future as a human being hangs in the balance after a ferocious bite. Thrills and romantic angst follow as Catherine and Greg pursue their happily ever after.
Fans of chick lit romances will adore this kitschy twist on the horror thriller genre. Mari Hamill weaves convincing and well-spun legends into the setting and background of her novel, making for a unique romantic story which gives tingles in the spine for all the right reasons. The leading pair of Catherine and Greg follow the typical archetype that romance fans will be used to, and Hamill’s writing is descriptive and easy to enjoy. Though the twists and turns may not hold all that many surprises, Werewolf Nights is definitely a cosy read sure to put smiles on faces wherever it’s enjoyed, and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a fresh view of contemporary romance. May the werewolves haunt you all at night.
