Drawing inspiration from the likes of John Trudell, Van Morrison, and Leonard Cohen, and becoming captivated by their music and poetic magic, Gary chose to carve out his own path, letting life lead him wherever he needed to be. Through this moving poetry collection, he recounts his life's journey, taking pleasure in simple things like drinking a good cup of coffee, telling stories and sharing feelings, staying clean, and appreciating the beauty of Mother Earth. Gary also speaks of his struggles with drugs, his recovery, and navigating old age. Throughout it all, facing life's constant challenges, The Legend of Garbagecangary continued to dance to his own tune, forever singing his freedom song.

There is a sense of intimacy to the pieces that encourages you to discover their meaning in depth. What makes Trudel's poems relatable is the universal themes that they explore. Everyone goes through the daily rigors of life and looks forward to connecting with another person through their art. In my opinion, Trudel achieves that spectacularly.
