In Walking Up a Slide by Daley James Francis, Jason Chapman is awash in sorrow. Lila Holmes is getting married...and not to him. Like many young men with a broken heart, he is prepared to go into a tailspin of bad choices that may or may not come back and bite him in the behind. With the aid of his two best friends, he's going to tackle his love life head on...sort of. In all honesty, he's kind of taking life as it comes at him and dealing with things (or not) as he goes. Jason is your irreverent yet relatable hero. He's a slovenly mess, but just possibly with good reason. He's been injured in love before, and has almost lost hope - not very attractive - but throughout the story he sort of puts himself together. He's hilariously snarky and unbelievably reckless. One of my favorite characters this year by far!
Walking Up a Slide by Daley James Francis is the quintessential story of love lost, and love that eludes one like that pesky bar of soap ever jumping out of one's hands - particularly in prison. The unabashed, decidedly raw humor in Walking Up a Slide is sure to cause outrageous laughter and inappropriate giggling by all. I've never read Daley James Francis before, but he's a very funny guy and I won't say no if I ever see his books lying around. He's got that Max Tucker, bad boy sense of humor with a mix of true heart that really shines out in Walking Up a Slide.
