Rohini had worked hard to get where she was, but she had never imagined her first day in the Youth Assembly, a program focused on the development of sustainable energy, would go quite the way it did. Just as the session started, aliens appeared, delivered a message of hope, and requested ambassadors to accompany them back to their home world when they return. They asked for recommendations, but these aliens, known as The Elders, had their own delegates in mind and Rohini is amongst them. Not all of the global players are on board with this apparent cure for the energy and farming crisis caused by global warming; in fact, some will go to extremes to jeopardize the mission before it even starts. Rohini finds herself in the cross-hairs. She had been worried about the aliens' intentions, but she should have concerned herself with those closer to home, for it is they who pose the real threat and it seems there is no line they won’t cross.

Voice of the Elders by Greg Ripley presents an amazing tale with a deep rooted and very important message. The world is in crisis, energy is running out, global warming is worsening and, despite being given a solution, there are those who oppose change, and the reason is greed. Fossil fuel tycoons see a threat to the bottom line, and are intent on preventing an advancement that would impact their riches. A great story that is clearly geared to make the reader think, not only about energy, but their own views and what they can do. Clearly, a lot of research has gone into this book, and it introduces many historical references, as well as touching on some of the principles of Taoism, mediation, and philosophy. The characters are relatable, and there is no shortage of conflict - you will love, you will hate, and you will feel outrage. Sit down, and lose yourself in some great scene settings and a gripping adventure.

I want to say right from the beginning that Voice of the Elders by Greg Ripley is a very good book. I liked it for a variety of reasons. First, the protagonist is a young person, and the reason she is at the center of this exciting event in human history is explained logically and clearly in a way that makes complete sense. I also like the fact that the hero is female and of mixed ethnic heritage; it just makes sense in today’s world and makes the story a little more believable. And just as believable is the skepticism of some of the leaders and older people in various government positions. This future version of Earth is also believable, with its changing weather, climate problems, immigration problems, and the distrust and xenophobia that often accompany change and upheaval. The author sets the plot up beautifully and then delivers.

I liked the plot. I loved the protagonist, and all the characters were well constructed. The setting was also done well. This future world is a logical extrapolation of the world we live in now. The writing is good for this story and the target audience. All these components of story telling come together in a crisp, tight tale that would no doubt make a great movie. Greg Ripley is a gifted writer who has put together a very thoughtful, timely, and, hopefully, very successful novel. I look forward to more great books from him. If you like thoughtful stories with strong female leads, you will want to buy Voice of the Elders by Greg Ripley.

Voice of the Elders by Greg Ripley is an intelligently written story with a prophetic message: our world could be headed for doom if growth and technology are left unchecked. Rohini Haakonsen is a young Indian-American woman who is just so excited to attend a UN Conference on climate change. Global warming has become a very critical problem, creating a lot of suffering for humanity. While at the conference, a group of humanoid aliens arrives with a dire message.

The aliens, known as the Elders, claim their planet encountered the same fate as humanity when technological growth threatened their world. Instead of allowing technology to grow without bounds, they have developed regenerative technologies that do not harm their world. They make an irresistible offer to help earth's governments find a lasting solution to the plague of global warming. Rohini is one of those chosen to travel to the alien world, but an attempt is made on her life soon after the decision is made, and she finds herself a fugitive running for her life. Follow her as she enlists the help of the Daoist secret society and seeks answers in a world where it is hard to trust anyone. Will she be able to uncover the face behind the mask?

This is a sci-fi tale with a very realistic take on the evolution of our world, a story that takes the threat of global warming very seriously. As I read this story, I couldn’t help but reflect on the mindlessness of some of our governments, and the greed of some key leaders who don’t really acknowledge that global warming is a crisis to worry about. While the story offers powerful reflections on crucial issues, it has a compelling plot and characters that readers can’t resist. Greg Ripley has created a phenomenal character in Rohini, an icon of the change the world badly needs. This the kind of book we need to read and discuss and pass on to those we care about. Voice of the Elders asks hard questions and, while it entertains readers, it gives a very serious warning about a future we could be headed toward.

I enjoyed reading the book and I totally loved it not only to the fact that it's about science'climate change'but also with the fact that it talks more about a young woman who struggles so hard despite her poor background and even let go of her passionate dream career so that she can do something to fight global warming or climate change.
The book vividly describes to us the fact that people who suffer most from impacts of climate change are those from low class or poor and despite the fact that they are trying so hard to change things for better, the rich fights back due to greedy.
I can recommend this book to those who love science and to young women so that to empower them .
