Vengeance of a Slave: A Family Through the Ages is a work of fiction penned by author V. M. Sang in the historical fiction, family saga, and adventure subgenres. It is best suited to the general adult reading audience. We are introduced to Adelbehrt, a young boy torn from his family and forced into slavery in Britannia. The story begins with the traumatic crucifixion of Adelbehrt's father, setting the stage for a narrative filled with intense emotions, vengeance, and the resilience of the human spirit. Adelbehrt's journey is one of heartbreak, anger, and the unyielding desire for revenge against the Romans who separated him from his family. The story paints a vivid picture of the harsh realities of slavery and the cruelty faced by those under Roman rule.
Author V. M. Sang has meticulously crafted a detailed and atmospheric historical novel that is sure to grip readers with its emotional core themes and rocket them through a saga of action, heartbreak, and strife that never lets up. The novel expertly explores themes of freedom, justice, and the transformative power of forgiveness, all whilst keeping the action in the foreground of the tale and the focus firmly on Adelbehrt’s journey of strength and growth. The realistic portrayal of our central hero is aided by the close narrative skill in bringing his dialogue, thoughts, and actions to life, each attitude well-reasoned and each motivation well-considered. Sang weaves a compelling tale that not only immerses readers in the historical setting but also delves into the complex layers of human emotions and morality with a poignant sense of purpose. Overall, I would certainly recommend Vengeance of a Slave as an immersive and thought-provoking historical novel that captivates from start to finish.
