Vacant by S Graham is a paranormal story with a twist. Becca is used to moving house as her husband's work takes them all over the place and new homes are nothing novel anymore. What seems to be the perfect home this time comes with something they didn’t expect, something even their new neighbors avoid talking about. Becca begins to experience strange things in the house, things only she sees until her parents arrive for a visit. When her mother begins to experience things too, Becca knows she isn’t going mad. When a small boy materializes, Becca is terrified, especially when the boy becomes obsessed with her. Things come to a head when her husband also begins to experience abnormal events. When they learn the history of the house, they realize that what they thought was a vacant home never was - can they escape the horror that lives there?
Vacant by S Graham is a creepy book that might have you second-guessing everything you think you see out of the corner of your eye. It was easy to read and follow, with a unique plot and real characters you can relate to. The action was non-stop, with something happening on almost every page with few dead spots in it, if you'll forgive the pun. It's written in a way that makes you feel as though you are listening to the author telling her story and as it is based on reality, I guess that's what's happening. Be aware that you may become so intent on following this tale that you forget the world exists around you! The story behind the ghost in the house is kind of heartbreaking but the twist at the end will give you goosebumps and chills down your spine.
