Tara’s mother, Meera, was the maid for the Macmillans, a wealthy family who lived in Bath, England. Tara and Blanche Macmillan were the same age and became best friends; both had Indian mothers and English fathers. However, Blanche’s mother often expressed disapproval of the friendship. When Meera died, Tara was invited to continue living in the guesthouse and continue her university education. When Blanche became engaged, and the Macmillan family planned a celebration in Jaipur, India, Tara was included in the trip - as Blanche’s maid. Blanche did not let Tara forget why she was there. But a major event that happened in India changed everything. In the novel, Unveiled, written by Luvinska Golam Oogarah, a captivating story is told.

Unveiled engages the reader from the first page to the last. It is a quick read, perfect for an afternoon at the beach or on a cozy sofa. The author writes in a flowing, smooth manner, with surprising twists and turns along the way. One of the book's best aspects is how past experiences in the characters’ lives influence their current perspectives. For example, Tara’s perception of being poor and not being accepted by other people colors her decisions as a young adult. Additionally, there are many examples of how some wealthy people view and treat those who serve them. Every reader will appreciate Luvinska Golam Oogarah's story filled with heartwarming and heartbreaking moments: an enjoyable dramatic read.
