Ian Rupe’s Unsung Heroes really drew me in once I reached the dialogue. It was the cover that first caught my attention. A real 'Oooh, shiny!' moment. The story begins with a mysterious man named Tribe who is seeking employment at a school for troubled boys. However, Tribe and the school itself are far more than they first appear. The school houses an ancient and corrupting darkness and Tribe has come to fight this darkness. To this end, he has sought out a young woman named Teagan to help him. Teagan is a sensitive person, an empath in the extreme. She works to heal violence and the scars it leaves behind, yet the work and the sheer weight of violence and hatred in the world leave their own wounds on Teagan's soul. Like Tribe, there is a bit more to Teagan than meets the eye, and there is steel beneath the gentleness. Together, Tribe and Teagan work against the threatening darkness, facing their fair amount of personal and interpersonal challenges.

I loved the dialogue and the interplay between the characters. Once you get into the meat of the story, the character and world building really take off. Teagan’s journey of development is a great one. I also really loved the chapter titles. Very creative! Unsung Heroes is a good beginning to what seems to be a promising series. As a first novel, there is certainly room to grow. I look forward to seeing Rupe grow as a writer, and will certainly be on the lookout for the next in this series. Overall, the story was marvellous.

As a big reader myself, I still enjoy reading this book. There are so many creative rewards as you read from beginning to end. I wrote this first book with a passionate purpose and the will to read all the great things I always seem to wish when following characters around. I am sure my love for this work will spread to every like minded reader. Enjoy the fantasy, because there are plenty more adventures to come from my heart and mind.

I Seriously couldn't put this book down! The character development and the story hooked me at about the 4th chapter. I like that he add real places from the Ithaca area it created a better visual for me almost like I was there. If you haven't read this book It's a must!

So, I was going to wait and write a review when I finished, but I decided I needed to put a little something up untill then because this book is a must read! This is coming from a very picky reader. I need something that keeps me engaged and Ian Rupes Unsung Heroes is definitely doing that! It's my first go to in my free time. Sometimes my not so free time..ha. What can I say, the author does a fantastic job of making you feel like a part of Tribe and Teagans journey. A combination of passion, strength, growth and the fight to rid the world of darkness. Loving it! So glad there will be more books to come!

I am about half way through and it is so engaging - can't wait to get home and start reading again. Wonderfully written with well thought out characters. Great action that draws you in with well connected interludes. I highly recommend this book if you are a fantasy, larger than life fan.

Am amazing story. It started off a little slow but soon ramped to great character building. The author creates a believable universe around his characters. Looking forward to the next book.

I can't stand sitting around and reading! BUT people I got this book from my wife, she's always trying to get me to slow down. Well, I just can't stop reading this book. And, if the author is scanning these reviews Please please please make this a series. I actually enjoy reading this book and can't wait to start the next book by this author. I hope there is another coming. It would be waste not to! By the way people this will be a movie, that's my prediction !!!!!!!

I started reading and couldn't put it down. It started off slow, but the author rewards you with some intense supernatural action. I have to say I have read hundreds of books and this particular style of writing really tickles my fancy. The atmosphere is dark and developing. There is a strong sense of logic behind the tech and magic that is touched on, but not gratuitous. I absolutely love the character Teagan Carter. At first she seems like this damaged and innocent face, but suddenly turns into this sexy badass. I won't ruin it for you, but she is in my top 10 bad asses of all time. She will be yours too. Not to mention that I live around Ithaca, NY. The battleground in this piece of art is Ithaca, NY. Which was the icing. I gave this author 5 stars since it has been a long time since I had so much fun reading.
