Unlikely by Wynsome Peter is a middle-grade novel that follows best friends Nate and Zachary as they learn how to navigate the highs and lows of growing up in a small town. However, things are shaken up when Nate notices suspicious activity involving an abandoned building. The boys soon uncover a plot that hints at secrets within their town, including a potential connection to Nate’s father’s workplace. With determination and bravery, the duo sets out to discover the truth, leading them into a whirlwind of humor, danger, and heartwarming camaraderie. Nate and Zachary uncover secrets that pull them into suspense and mystery and test their friendship and their courage. Readers will follow these best friends on an adventure that puts their loyalty and resilience to the ultimate test. But what will they discover along the way? Readers are in for a ride.
At the heart of Unlikely, readers will be able to relate to Nate and Zachary’s camaraderie. This is one of those truly special tales told in a resonant and lighthearted tone.
