An unpaid piano player and the kidnapping of four women are key factors in the unearthing of a criminal element infiltrating a peaceful community in the suspenseful sleuth mystery, Trouble in Bay Town (A Sonny Knight Adventure) by Alan Blank. Sonny Knight is a private detective in the quiet and friendly metropolis of Bay Town. Lately, in this fair city, beautiful young women have been vanishing into thin air, without leaving a trace. Several witnesses saw and spoke with the victims a matter of moments before they disappeared, but nobody noticed anything out of the ordinary. The girls were there and then they were gone. When a senior woman comes in with an unusual complaint, Sonny recognizes a common thread between the would-be client's grievance and the missing girls. As Sonny continues to investigate, he unearths unlikely links between a community service, the victims, and a federal agency. Who is behind these crimes and what do they want to accomplish?
Trouble in Bay Town (A Sonny Knight Adventure) by Alan Blank is a superb tribute to the noir era. It is wonderfully reminiscent of the nineteen-forties private eyes, such as Sam Spade and Phillip Marlowe. A significant difference between them and the main character, Sonny Knight, is that he is more relatable to this generation. With a tip of his Panama hat and a strong sense of right and wrong, he is charming and lovable. Sonny Knight isn't the only likable character within the plot; the story is filled with engaging and enchanting people who make the story line entertaining and enjoyable. This suspenseful novel is a fantastic murder mystery that will satisfy noir buffs from the ages of sixteen to a hundred.
