Tragedy is the first book in the Forsaken Lands series by Sydney M. Cooper. Aiasjia and Teveres were two people whose backgrounds could not have been more different and yet their futures were so entwined. Teveres was a killer with a privileged past while Aiasjia was a healer who came from a very poor background. However, they had much more in common than they could imagine. They both had dark and sad pasts, had special powers that could save or take a life, and their minds met long before they even knew of each other's existence. When their leaders are kidnapped and chaos, betrayal, power struggles, and bloodshed become the new order, Aiasjia and Teveres will have to use their extra-ordinary gifts, survive unknown enemies, and seek the help of unlikely allies and old friends if they are to save their people from the looming doom.
Tragedy is an endearing story about misfortune, betrayal, trust, and beautiful and dark powers beyond any imagination. The book tells an incredible story of a place on the edge of disaster and destruction and the heroes who must fight to avert the impending tragedy. The characters, with their dark twisted pasts and canny supernatural powers, combine with a masterfully crafted plot to give a thrilling reading experience. Sydney M. Cooper used just the perfect combination of intrigue, drama, action, and a bit of adventure and humor to create a definite page-turner that had me reading nonstop from the first page to the very last. I cannot wait to read Book 2 to learn what happens next in this amazing story.
