Arcmas woke from his drug-induced sleep with an icy heart and anger as he had never felt before. He reeled from the loss of his prisoner, the Adon Miru, and betrayal by his adopted sister, Hennelyn. Hennelyn and her best friend, Nik, took the bunjis' side against their people, the Starkhons. They were traitors. Arcmas was a soldier specially trained to combat the bunjis and secure their territory, and he could not fail the Emperor. But his sister was now an enemy. Hennelyn and the bunjis were fleeing to safety, and Arcmas must pursue them. Will Arcmas catch up and subdue Hennelyn and her friends before reaching the safe zone? Has Hennelyn made an arch enemy out of Arcmas? Read The Winged Warrior by Heidi Richardson to find out.
I was delighted to read the second volume of the Tower of the Deep series, titled The Winged Warrior, by Heidi Richardson. The action, unpredictability, depth, adventure, suspense, bravery, mystery, deception, manipulation, and more kept me on the edge of my seat. In this book, I saw firsthand the battle between familial bond and loyalty to the oath of military service. General Tai and Arcmas walked the tightrope of choice when their daughter and sister led the enemy camp in defying them. Would you uphold an oath or obey a military command at the expense of your kin’s wellbeing? I loved the brilliant plot and development of this book. Heidi covered all the bases, and my absolute favorites were Laria, Brinkle, Nik, and Hennelyn. They were courageous, kind, and resourceful. Will there be retribution from the Emperor? Thumbs up to Heidi!
