Touch of Embers is a work of fiction in the paranormal romance, interpersonal drama, and magical fantasy sub-genres, and was penned by author Aurora Lillard. Written as part of The Lore Resurrection series, this work is intended for adult reading audiences owing to the presence of some moderate explicit language and scenes of a sexual nature. The central pair of the tale consists of Ivy, a woman who knows little of her father and her mother’s dark past, and Akil, a deadly master of the magical arts with a kingdom to salvage from the grip of war. As they come together and discover the truth about Ivy’s heritage, passion sparks between them, and so begins another adventure.
Author Aurora Lillard has crafted a highly engaging romantic fantasy tale with plenty of thrills and spills for readers who enjoy the PNR genre. One of the things which I admired about this work compared to others of its type was that I felt the fantasy plot, war, and paranormal concepts had equal weighting to the romantic story, the two threads working well together as the action heated up in both strands of the storyline. The worldbuilding of the novel was really well conceived to give Ivy and Akil their personalities and backstories, and I always wanted to know more and more about the concepts, customs, and magical lore of the setting. Overall, I would highly recommend Touch of Embers for both romance and fantasy novel fans in their own right as an accomplished and well-rounded work of fiction.
