What began as a bedtime story for his son and daughter, both true dinosaur enthusiasts, slowly turned into a grand adventure novel. With more stories in the works, Michael is already planning a sequel.
It was his enjoyment of storytelling that led him to write this novel. It is the first of many he has planned.

Michael’s novel, Tomb of the Triceratops, follows three high school friends to the Badlands of Montana where they search for a paleontologist that claimed to have discovered a portal to another dimension were dinosaurs escaped to.

Tomb of the Triceratops: Fossil Explorers Book 1 is an action and adventure novel for young adults and preteens written by Michael Ajax. Gabriel and his friend, Leo, were amazed to find that his older brother, Daniel, had left his bedroom door unlocked. He never ever did that, and the unlocked door was an irresistible lure, but Gabriel still expected something to happen when he breached his brother's privacy. The walls were covered with drawings of dinosaurs which was really no surprise. Daniel was big on dinosaurs, always had been, and even got in trouble during a school trip to the Field Museum where he wandered into the off-limits Research Wing. Gabriel still harbored no little resentment over the fact that, after that stunt, their dad took Daniel and his two friends on a dinosaur dig. Gabriel didn't get to go, supposedly because he was too young, which still rankled. When Gabriel sees Daniel's fossil chest, he decides to investigate, even though it takes some fiddling with the lock protecting it. There were fascinating things inside, but their investigations were cut short when Daniel suddenly appeared. He seemed both angry and shocked to see the mess the two of them had made of his room, especially their break-in of his fossil chest. But as he fielded their questions about the strange spike and the odd-smelling carved walking stick, Daniel decided it was time to finally tell the story about the peculiar adventure he and his friends shared while on that dig.
Michael Ajax's young adult and preteen action and adventure novel, Tomb of the Triceratops: Fossil Explorers Book 1, blends science, science fiction, epic fantasy, and action in an exciting and well-written tale. I share Daniel's passion for dinosaurs and was thrilled to read about the dig he, Pat, and Chris went on with Dan's father. I loved reading about the dinosaurs the three encounter in the alternate world they fall into, especially the triceratops Daniel names Dozer. Ajax gives the reader so much to think about and explore in this thriller of a tale. There's the lost Lakota tribe and the giant, Gallant, who's the last of his kind, and tales of an ancient band of warrior-knights who still strike fear into the hearts of the Goils, a nasty race of beings that are causing the three adventurers no end of trouble. I had a marvelous time reading Tomb of the Triceratops and am looking forward to the next book in Ajax's Fossil Explorers Series. It's highly recommended.
