To Those We Found by George Ander is a thought-provoking science fiction novel written from an alien’s perspective. Meet Taman Yedder, a contestant for the Anermis Report, which is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to become a part of history. As a representative of his species, he will have to leave his home planet and the consequences slowly catch up with him. He goes on an interstellar journey to places that enrich his experience. Along with it, however, he has to contend with government conspiracies and terrorists hacking into the Anermis Report. But for what purpose? Taman Yedder doesn’t see how they could benefit from manipulating his destinations pursuant to the requirements for contestants. He even suspects that his own sponsor has a hand in changing it. Will he last in the journey long enough to find out, and will he come home a hero?
George Ander’s To Those We Found is a magnificent science fiction novel. Rarely do you read a story in this genre written from an alien’s POV. It is thought-provoking as it doesn’t bother to raise the question of whether or not we’re alone in the universe. It simply presents alien races with interests, preoccupations, and dilemmas similar to ours. It creates a world of its own, and Ander draws you into it. Taman Yedder may be an alien, but he is human in almost all aspects that pertain to the existential issues he faces along the journey. While he tries his best to maintain the integrity of his report, certain forces are operating to serve their own interests. It’s a powerful story of one alien voyager, one that you can relate to on all levels. This story has an appeal that will attract any lovers of the genre.
