My name is Miro and I'm a mother of two, an illustrator and author originally from Romania, currently living in the UK.
I always loved drawing but it took me a long time and support from loved ones to see it as a job. After getting my electronics engineer masters degree, I worked for a few years in that field. While still working there, after getting a graphic tablet for my birthday, I’ve started all sorts of tutorials and reading all the books I could find on graphic design and illustration and found a job in the field as well.
After illustrating a few children's books for various authors I decided I needed to write as well. Whether it's picture books or non-fiction books for kids (books with activities), I really enjoy writing and illustrating for little ones.
As a hobby, I love crafting. Paper crafts, softwood, bookbinding, needle felting, and more, enabled me to spend a lot of quality time with my little ones. We enjoy our board games a lot and I’ve attempted to create a few of our own but their time is still to come.
A nice walk in nature or seeing new places, inspire me to write and sketch more and have the right set of mind for starting a new creative project.

Tiny Explorers: Into the Wild by Miro Tartan is a wonderful introduction to the natural world, filled with a plethora of activities. Tartan starts by explaining how important it is for kids to connect with nature and shares some of her own experiences. The thirty-three activities are divided into five general areas, including pretend play and art projects. Each project includes an illustrated list of materials, a scale listing time, messiness, and effort, as well as written and illustrated instructions for the project. Each project ends with the skills young children are using and ideas to extend or alter the project. There are additional resources found online and in an additional workbook.
I loved Tiny Explorers: Into the Wild by Miro Tartan. As a former children's librarian in charge of storytimes, I would have used the ideas in this book multiple times. I also would have recommended this book to parents and caregivers often. In my experience, many kids haven't had the opportunity to explore natural materials. The Illustrations by Tartan are beautiful and instructive at the same time. She has included a wide variety of projects both kids and parents will enjoy. There were so many ideas I loved; the bark sailboat, creating puppets from natural materials, and using the sun to create art. Tiny Explorers: Into the Wild will inspire kids and parents to explore the world around them. The activities will provide hours of enjoyment and an appreciation for the simple things we often overlook. I highly recommend Tiny Explorers: Into the Wild.
