Author Biography

I have always enjoyed writing and, happily, I seem to have the knack of making people laugh with my stories. Oh, occasionally I had a go at writing a novel, but it wasn't until after I broke up with the man who went on to become the main character of my book that I felt inspired to put down on paper my interpretation of how his life might have evolved.... That was over thirty years ago and it took 'lockdown' to make me knuckle down to finish the story. I am now a 'young feeling' 75 year old, living in Spain with my husband, and currently working on the sequel to 'Timothy'.

Timothy by Rosemary O Sheppard covers the first four decades of Timothy's life. From the day he was born in London to a single mother during the Second World War, he knew himself to be special, very special, and with God as his father the world could offer him anything, couldn’t it? His mother Edith bolstered his beliefs, reminding him daily just how much she loved him and how important he was. From an early age, Timothy learned how to charm people. His manner and his clever use of words ensured he got his way, but if that did not work, then any method was acceptable, legal or otherwise. He never allowed his conscience to bother him and with a willing partner in Colin, who from childminding days, became a lifelong friend, he could easily avoid prosecution. His love of the good life, especially his affinity for women, would guide every action to further his ambitions.

I enjoyed reading Timothy by Rosemary O Sheppard. From the first page, the pace was just right, and I found it almost impossible to put the book down. While the main character has very few redeeming qualities, I found myself almost cheering him on. He leaps off the pages and into your life even though his behavior is quite despicable. In places, the story unfolds through the eyes of other characters, including Timothy’s mother, his wife, his friends, and his mistress, which gives us a far deeper view of his lifestyle. A page-turning and delightful book to read and I highly recommend it. I shall look out for any other books written by this author. A well-deserved five stars.
