In Time Of Destruction by John C. Meyer, it’s 2085 and scientists are on the brink of launching a new energy source. But something happens, triggering a catastrophic, destructive force that strikes the Earth. Two of the people that have the knowledge to launch the new energy source are whisked away to the year 2245. There they are asked to complete the planning so that all of Earth can be brought out of their apocalyptic times and a new Earth can begin. The warring clans, led by a man named Jared, don’t want that to happen. If he can control the energy he can control the world. To stop him, time travel must be used.

The story starts with a countdown to the day everything explodes, then continues to the days following the destruction, moving between the actions on Earth, the Moon Base and the Space Colony. The story continues as Austin Johnson and Jerry Sheryl become caught in a time paradox between the years 2085 and 2245. Using highly secret time travel devices, they must move back and forth in time, searching on the Earth, the Moon, and on the Space Colony for the cause of the disaster to prevent the devastation and save the billions of people who died that day.

Time travel and an apocalyptic future in one story; what could be better? There are several major characters and it takes a few chapters to get them sorted out. However, the author cleverly defines his characters, highlighting their strengths and flaws. The idea behind the plot is sound and new, at least to me, which is something that is hard to find in modern science fiction. This is a well-written story and I enjoyed it very much.

Time of Destruction by John C. Meyer is a mind trippin’ roller coaster ride through time. In the year 2085, most of the earth is destroyed by a massive explosion at Hydroteck. No one knows the cause of this catastrophic event. Above the earth, the space colony Lagrange watches the earth explode. Cut off from Earth and their moon base, Lagrange is a stranded dome orbiting in space. On earth chaos erupts. A “war of dominance” emerges between nomadic clans and the scientific community. A new world order must be secured. Two survivors from 2245 AD travel back in time before the destruction. These time travelers rescue Austin Johnson and Jerry Sheryl. Austin and Jerry are Hydroteck’s key players in the invention of the IPT device, Interdimensional Power Transmitter. Whoever owns this device will control the world’s energy. If the world is to recover, Austin and Jerry must travel back to the pivotal moment in time and stop the “Time of Destruction.” Caught in the paradox of time streaming, how many lifetimes will it take to undo this tragedy?

Tighten your seat belt because you are going to be launched back and forth through time. John C. Meyer describes a thrilling science fiction novel in Time of Destruction. Meyer captivates the reader from the very beginning by jumping immediately into the action. There is a large cast of characters that populates many streams of time. However, the main characters grow and develop dynamically through the high paced action. Meyer writes short chapters which increase the speed of the plot action. He often ends a chapter with a suspenseful scene. Then in the next chapter, he catapults the action into another time and location. Although the narrative changes time frames constantly, the transitions are smooth and the action flows steadily. No hiccups, or confusion. Meyer explains his futuristic ideals with daring, yet believable creativity. The science is not too “out of this world,” allowing the reader to easily understand the fundamental nature of time and space travel, as well as the IPT device. The paradoxes of time travel boggle the mind. However, the narrative’s main conflict results in man’s desire for power, and what he will do to achieve it.

Providing energy to a world that is always hungry for more is as necessary in 2085 as it is in 2015. Time of Destruction, by John C. Meyer, is an intriguing look at how advancements in technology bring about a destructive battle that threatens to kill billions of people and keep one man in control of it all. Arthur Helman has spent much of his adult life putting together the most successful energy supply company on the face of the earth, Lunarcom. He doesn't intend to see all of his hard work go down the drain as the Interdemensional Power Transmitter (IPT) discovered by Hydroteck begins its testing procedures. If IPT is able to get online and perform as Caroline Frazier hopes it will, providing electrical power at almost no cost, Helman and Lunarcom will be ruined. A stolen time travel suit had already aided Helman in the building of his empire, and he is ready to use it again to protect it. Rescued from the explosion are two of Hydroteck's best engineers, Austin Johnson and Jerry Sheryl, who are swept into a time paradox that has them traveling between various events spanning time from 2085 and 2245 as they search for the cause of the tragedy and a means of preventing the destruction. Of course, along the way they are entangled with Helman and Caroline in an epic struggle.

Time of Destruction mixes an apocalyptic event with time travel and futuristic high tech in a way that can't help but capture the attention of the most dedicated sci-fi enthusiasts. The story line is packed with plenty of action and intrigue to keep John C. Meyer's readers fully engaged, and the character development creates an instant emotional connection that places you there. Time of Destruction is a sci-fi thriller of epic proportions that you don't want to miss. Excellent read!
