The Witching Elm (The Memento Mori Witch Series Book 1) by C.N. Crawford follows Tobias Corvin. Tobias is trapped in Boston when a spectral army begins attacking his home town. Tobias must find a way to save his home when the army begins their attack. Using Fiona's help, can Tobias save both his world and ours?
The Witching Elm by C.N. Crawford is an engrossing and engaging read. I found myself lost in this amazing world of magic and mystery. Filled with rich history, this was an unusual and fascinating read. I loved all the characters and it was very interesting to learn the history about how the war began. I normally fall in love with main characters and while I did in The Witching Elm, I also fell in love with the world and with the history.
The magic system is very realistic; it's nice to have a system where you don't need wands or other items to create magic. The world building was amazing and I really felt like I was in the story. There is a dark tone to this book and it is not for the faint of heart, but I loved every second of it. The cover is stunning and does feel like it fits the story well. I enjoyed The Witching Elm so much that I picked up the second book, A Witch's Feast, and the novella, The Abysmal Sea. I cannot wait to dive back into this amazing world.
