The Vestals Conspiracy: Prequel To The Nina Monte Mystery Thriller Series is an historical fiction mystery written by Tomasz Chrusciel. Professor Filippo Oliveri’s recent discovery was the high point and culmination of his life’s work. The site was remarkably well preserved, from the wall decorations made of marble, to the mosaic floor showing animals and gladiators, but especially to the wall mosaic that stunned and excited Oliveri each time he studied it. The finely crafted, intricate tile work showed the Vestal Virgins -- and one other woman whose presence corroborated everything he had hoped it would. On finding this site, he had immediately contacted the Italian Ministry of Culture to get them on board with hiring Nina Monte, his former student and mentee, as a consultant. He was anxiously awaiting her arrival from Venice and had finally gotten through to her. While he was waiting, however, he had visitors, ones he had never expected, though from his own family history he might have an insight into exactly who they were.
Tomasz Chrusciel’s historical fiction mystery, The Vestals Conspiracy: Prequel To The Nina Monte Mystery Thriller Series, is a fast-paced and exciting tale about buried antiquities and the hidden society that exists to protect them. Chrusciel artfully blends historical fact and fiction, making the story feel seamless and real, and his characters are compelling ones. His plot is complex, and the story maintains a tense and breathless atmosphere that works quite well. I’m not familiar with the author’s Nina Monte Series, and found this prequel to be an inviting and intriguing introduction. The Vestals Conspiracy: Prequel To The Nina Monte Mystery Thriller Series is most highly recommended.
