Discover what happens to toys in the middle of the night when you leave them on the floor in the adorable children's picture book, The Toy-Gobbling Monster by Vasanthi V. Sudhi has lots of toys, and she loves every one of her toys. But Sudhi doesn't like to clean up after playing. One day, one of Sudhi's favorite toys, Moja, a stuffie, goes missing. No matter how long she searches or where she looks for Moja, she can't find him. That night, Grandmother tells her the story of a toy-gobbling monster that eats all the toys that little children leave scattered around their room. When Grandmother was little, it devoured her favorite teddy. The horrible creature even stole the dog's toys! Sudhi is upset. Did the toy-gobbling monster eat her favorite stuffie? Will she get it back from him?
Little children learn the importance of cleaning up after playtime in the cute picture book, The Toy-Gobbling Monster by Vasanthi V. Getting children to clean up after themselves is a valuable lesson, but it's generally met with resistance. While I prefer a different method to teach life lessons, I realize that Grandmother creating a toy-gobbling monster that eats left-out toys helps show Sudhi how important her toys are to her. The vibrantly colored graphics are charming and will delight and engage a younger audience. The monster is cute, in a slightly scary way without being terrifying, and the story reads smoothly. This book is excellent for children ages 3-5.
