The Tortoise & The Fair is written and illustrated by J. R. Lamar. The fair is in town with all sorts of great ways to play and fun things to do. There are also lots of yummy treats with all sorts of toppings. Hot dogs, ketchup, and mustard just to name a few. Of course, there’s also the fair’s best-selling chili. Naturally, all the animals show up to have a great time doing all the things that can be done at a fair. The thing they love the best is the race, and they all have the chance to participate. After all the fun, games, and food, who will take home the trophy from the race?
The Tortoise & The Fair by J. R. Lamar is a wonderful children’s story that takes place at a fair. The animals are all happy and excited about the fair because of the games and the food. The race that takes place has a unique and funny twist that will leave the reader laughing at the smelly situation left behind. The illustrations are as bright and colorful as they are amusing. The pictures add a lot of fun and excitement for kids to follow along with as they are being read to. I recommend this story to anyone who has children that are early readers or like being read to. The words are kept simple enough to sound out without taking away from the storyline. The Tortoise & The Fair is sure to become a childhood favorite that kids will want to read over and over again.
