The second book in the Global Calling Series, The Tiger's Eye: Angels in Mumbai by Scott Delaney further intensifies as the story focuses on spiritual awakenings and real-life horrors. Andrew Morrison becomes instrumental in organizing a Christian movement known as The Call, and like many Christian-based faiths, it aims to spread God’s word in different parts of the globe. But not everyone is accepting of it and the Indian Liberation Resistance Organization, a radical anti-Christian militia, feels that The Call’s religious incursion is repugnant. They plot a brutal terrorist attack in a crowded Mumbai cricket stadium during The Call’s huge ministry event. Angels do not have the power to perform a divine intervention, but they can prompt the conscience of one of those responsible. Sanjay Swaminathan’s guilt weighs heavily on his heart and he turns his back on terrorism. As he shifts his allegiance, angels will engage demons in an ultimate battle.
Scott Delaney has a keen eye for India’s local color, as well as the contemporary issues that this country faces. He does not hesitate to depict the country according to its positive and negative angles. His plot has an unwavering intensity in conflict, as it brings out the peculiar contrast of religious beliefs from people of two different cultures. Delaney allows a buildup of tension and it increases page after page. What I like most about the storyline is that the supernatural element of angels and demons do not overshadow the realism that the story projects. The angels are there for a purpose, but they function more like metaphorical inducements of human actions. This is a spiritual thriller with a unique spin and engaging characters that will keep you absorbed from start to finish.
