The Sting of the Scorpio by Monique Domovitch is the second book in her Scorpio Series and takes up where the first book in the series ended. Back in New York after their marriage, Alex and Brigitte plan their life together. As Brigitte resumes painting, Alex goes back into the business of building, except this is not enough. He has once again became power hungry and with no thought of his wife and son in mind he strived to gain more till it takes over his life. With Brigitte knowing that her husband is cheating on her, tries to make a go of her marriage. It is fast becoming a shambles and she gives up her painting and her life for Alex. With the death of her son David and a son showing up that Alex never knew he had, the straw broke the camel’s back. After suffering a nervous breakdown, Brigitte’s life makes a complete turnaround as does Alex’s. Twenty Five years of power is about to be gone.
I always like to keep up with a series and sometimes I notice that the sequels can be a little less powerful than the first book in the series. Not so with this sequel. It is as much a powerful drama as the first book once. This book has all the drama one could want, scheming, betrayal, infidelity, cheating as one plots to have the best regardless of what it does to friends. We have the same cast of characters that are in book 1 of this series along with new ones added. This as with the first book was impossible to put down, The turbulence and emotions played out through the novel is such one has to continue reading to find out what is going to happen, right up to a surprise ending. This is a strong and powerful book with a lesson that shows no matter what you the mighty have will eventually fall. All though I feel the book can be read as a standalone, to get the full impact you should read the first book in the series. I will be waiting patiently to see if the author comes out with another book in this series. Highly recommended
