Mystery, magic, and a little bit of mayhem ensue in The Spellbound Abbey by Mason Monteith. Audrey Hughes was an ordinary girl working to make ends meet in order to support her family. It was upon the death of her friend Farah Davies that Audrey’s life changed forever. Farah left her inheritance to Audrey and with it, she is plunged into the world of the upper class. With war on the horizon, can Audrey make a difference or will she have a hand in starting the war?
The Spellbound Abbey by Mason Monteith was such a fantastic read. Between the amazing world-building, an array of unique characters, and interesting lore within the story I couldn’t put this book down. Monteith has a real talent for world-building and pacing, and the story seems to flow perfectly between scenes, making it so easy to become immersed. I also really enjoyed Audrey’s character because she was very much an introvert who got thrown into a world that required her to show all of her strengths. I love how intelligent and quirky she is and, despite the changes that happen in her life, she essentially remains the same person.
Overall, I found this book to be incredibly well written with a pretty unique plot and fantastically written characters. The Spellbound Abbey definitely sets itself apart from other fantasy novels. I’m really glad to have come across this title and will be looking out for more of Monteith’s works in the future. I highly recommend this book to any fantasy lovers out there.
