The Silver Lining of Cancer, for all intents and purposes, took my breath away! This book is filled with short, true stories from those who know all too well the effects of cancer because they had to experience it. What more powerful a way to express the message of this book than to have the words come from the mouths of those who have lived the message? Author Tracey Ehman not only has suffered the wrath of cancer, but found the silver lining for herself in her own life, and connected with others who have done the same. The Silver Lining of Cancer is filled with inspiration, a deep emotional connection, and the true story about the word that strikes fear into anyone that hears it. More so, it is about how this terrible situation can be used for good. As one writer states, “Something deep in my spirit told me my journey was of value, both for myself and for many others yet to come.”
Though I myself am not a cancer survivor, I have experienced its devastating effects on my own family and friends. The Silver Lining of Cancer is different from other books I have read on the subject of cancer; it is more real, rawer, and more inspirational. I rated this five stars because I could not rate it ten! Each individual that shared was very open and did an exceptional job of expressing the impact that cancer had in their lives, and how they had to search for the silver lining and find a way to fight, not just survive, but thrive - somehow, they had to find a way. It is an emotional subject and an emotional book, but when you read it, you will walk away more full of life and inspiration than when you started, I promise.
