I listened to The Seadog: Paines Creek Beach Book 3 by Aaron Paul Lazar on Audible. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. The checkout and downloading of the book was flawless; the narrator, Gwendolyn Druyor, added an authentic New York dialect for the lead female character, Scout, and it was easy to follow along with each character. As I listened to the story, I was able to close my eyes and immerse myself in the journey of these lost souls who found redemption and love. I pictured the story in my mind’s eye and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The ability to rewind, to speed up the narration, and add bookmarks with notes is a plus on the Audible platform.
Although The Seadog is book three in the Paines Creek Beach romantic suspense series, it read like a standalone so I did not feel like I missed anything from the other novels. Suspense, drama, sex, and romance always make for a good story. The plot and characters are well developed. Scout is a woman who survives and escapes domestic abuse from her stepfather, then sets out to find her roots and a safe haven with her biological father, who, unbeknownst to her, has passed on. She is welcomed into her stepsister’s home and life begins anew. Jack is suffering from undernourishment and amnesia after the traumatic loss of his family on a boating expedition. Bits and pieces of his life appear as haunting nightmares that throw him into a deep depression that almost takes his life. Will their pasts haunt them forever? This book is an excellent read and I would recommend it for anyone who likes a good love story.
