K.N. Lee is an amazing fantasy writer. Her novella is a page turner that makes you want to read the whole Woodland Creek series. In The Scarlett Legacy, young Evie must decide if she wants to protect her family or sacrifice their happiness for her own. Evie is part of the Scarlett family, a family filled with secrets. Secrets that even she doesn't know about the family and herself. While trying to live a normal life, Evie falls in love with her childhood best friend Parker. Everything is going well until the Prince family, a family who has been feuding with hers for years, threatens to destroy her family. Avalon Prince, the youngest and last Prince, wants Evie as his own and will do anything to get her, even if it means threatening her family. Will Evie give up her happiness to save her family? Will she choose her happiness over theirs? Or will she find a way to have both?
This is my second K.N. Lee book that I have read, and I am happy to say that she does not disappoint. Her characters are well developed, and their development over the course of the novella is well done. The plot makes you wish it was a novel instead of a novella. You just want more to read. The way it is written allows you to easily step into their world and just join in on the action and romance. Despite it being short and a little fast paced, this book is a good read and I recommend checking this series out. You'll love the characters.
