The Rough and Tumbles of Early Life: The Wonderfully Whacky World of Terry Tumbler (Volume 1) by Terry Tumbler is an autobiographical account of Terry’s life written in a lighter vein. The Rough and Tumbles of Early Life starts off with a short introduction explaining the outline and scope of the book, and then follows a sequential narrative of events and memories from Terry’s life. At the outset, the book begins with Terry’s world as a grandfather and then goes down Memory Lane from his childhood and youth and on. The book is filled with anecdotes that are funny, thrilling, adventurous, and not only do they provide us with a picture of Terry’s personality, but we also learn about his family, relatives, and the people in his circle who formed and shaped him.
The Rough and Tumbles of Early Life by Terry Tumbler is hilarious. The tone of the book is set in the first few paragraphs where Terry comes off as humorous and full of zest for life. His childhood antics are just as funny and I couldn’t help laughing at some of the descriptions in the book. Although the book certainly focuses around Terry’s experiences, we also learn about his family background and memories centering around his parents and family, which I found quite interesting and informative. Overall, it is Terry’s candid and humorous style of writing that makes this autobiography stand out. I enjoyed reading about all of his escapades as a kid, as well as when he was older. This is a great read for people who like autobiographies or memoirs.
