Mickey Haller finds himself on the other side of the aisle in this suspenseful mystery of not just who-done-it but more of how Mickey is going to nail him! Asked to be the lead prosecutor on a trial that has already taken place once, Mickey builds a rock solid team: his two ex-wives, his resourceful private investigator and his half-brother who also happens to be a cop in the area. The accused is a recently released convict who has already stood trial for the abduction and brutal murder of a young girl. What started as a difficult case turns deep and dark. The more they investigate, the more disturbing the case becomes. They soon learn that there is a vicious circle as predator to prey, prey to predator.

Michael Connelly and Peter Giles make a perfect team. Mr. Connelly's imagination and real life knowledge mesh into tales that will yank you from the back of your chair and leave you perched on the edge until the last word on the last page. Mr. Giles takes the masterpieces and personalizes each character. Perfect for commuting, road trips, quiet time...this story is suspenseful and action packed! I choose to review the audio books in this series because I started out with one by the author and voice actor and cannot imagine any of Mr. Connelly's stories without Mr. Giles' interpretation. His personalization of Maggie McFierce, Bosch and the rest of the characters make me laugh, wince, smile and grimace. They are that good!
