Over 36,000,000 people in the United States are illiterate and in desperate need of help in learning to read. Nita Marie Clark in Danny’s Reading Problem and the Fun He Had Fixing It! is a great book to help young people struggling with reading. Join Danny as his grammy helps him have fun and learn how to read. She gives him the best gift: the love of books and reading. Grammy taught Danny about the five letters that don’t fit smoothly into the alphabet’s scheme of vowels and consonants. Danny and his gramps learned that letters are strung together to form words, which are strung together to make sentences, which are strung together to make paragraphs, which are the basis of all stories. If your child is between the ages of five and twelve, they will enjoy reading this book. If they are struggling with reading, they need this book.
Nita Marie Clark is an 87-year-old grandmother and great-grandmother who has helped her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren learn the important skill of reading. In Danny’s Reading Problem and the Fun He Had Fixing It!, she shares how to create a fun learning environment and some special rules for making words. Nita’s daughter, Kathy N. Doherty, does a masterful job of illustrating this wonderful story of discovery.
