The Revenants of Middle England: Saviour and Savagery (Tempest Green Book 1) by Charles Cavanagh is the story of a medieval town under siege from the Revenants - zombie like creatures who inject a venom into people to turn them into Revenants too. After a horde of Revenants attack the town, the survivors are rescued by a small group of men who kill off the Revenants. They are allowed to rest afterwards and the people believe that they are the answer to keeping them safe. Elsewhere, a young woman called Adeline tries to keep her two brothers safe as she witnesses the death of her grandfather, a man charged with protecting a mysterious stone. Adeline has visions of her family members dying before it happens. She is unable to prevent her grandfather's death. Their uncle arrives to take them to safety as a monster watches them from the hill side.
Charles Cavanagh has created an intriguing tale in The Revenants of Middle England: Saviour and Savagery (Tempest Green Book 1). I realise it is the first part of a series, but I would have liked a little more information to it. The Revenants are suitably scary and their attack on the town was brutal. Zombie style stories are very popular right now and there is a slight twist to this one that I think will appeal to fans. I thought it was good story.
