The Passion of Eve: Remembering the End by Edward N Brown is a unique approach to a story that we all have heard as we grew up. What do you think happened when Adam and Eve were thrown out of Eden? Adam and Eve’s son Seth also has the same question. So, when the 20-year-old Seth asks Eve where they came from, she has no choice but to give him the highlights of what happened. Eve shares what transpired at the time they were thrown out of Eden, how they survived, and how they learned to live once again. However, while telling Seth the truth, she also shares her thoughts on God and how having faith in Him is important.
The Passion of Eve turned out to be a very courageous and inspirational story to read. We think of Eve as the reason for her and Adam being thrown out of Eden. We heard the same story and over the years, we have come to believe it. Edward N Brown gives a different perspective to the story and makes the reader ask some questions. I sympathize with Eve a lot; I understand her dilemma and seriously, if I had been in her position, I might have made the same decisions. The highlight of the story for me is the narrative. The author has a way with words. There is magic in the way he tells the story, how he describes each scene, and breathes life into it. The way he depicts Eve is so simple and human; I think that is what made her so relatable for me. This is a great story that is incredibly easy to read; enjoyable and educational all at the same time.
