Who loves pain? No one that I know of. I would suggest a good psychiatrist if you told me you enjoyed pain. On the other hand, who has never experienced pain? Everyone experiences pain. Since we all have pain, it is wise to learn from it. What can pain teach us? Jeffrey K. Goodson shares what the Word of God says about pain. God has given us pain as a gift for our good. Paul Brand, M.D. wrote a book many years ago explaining how pain benefits us. It allows us to know there is a problem. In The Pain that Pushed Me, Jeffrey teaches us that not only does God give pain as a gift, but He also provides the cure for pain. The cure is trust in Jesus and allowing His strength to replace our weakness. Read this book to be encouraged and uplifted even during seasons of pain.
Regardless of the color of your skin, age, religion, or lack thereof, or any such thing, we all share pain. Pain is universal. Pain attacks the Christian as well as the unbeliever. Pain comes in a multitude of forms, but it is pain nonetheless. Since pain is so prevalent, it behooves us to learn how to deal with it. In The Pain that Pushed Me, Jeffrey K. Goodson uses the example of Job and others in the Bible to show that pain can be overcome. Jesus Christ died on the cross for our pain. This little book is uplifting and comforting. It leads us to Jesus. At the feet of Jesus, we find healing for our pain. He died to save and heal us. Allow pain to do its redemptive work by driving us to the Author and Finisher of our faith.
