The Other Side of Midnight is a paranormal shifter romance novel for young and new adults written by Suzana Thompson. Clarissa Harris was your normal high school senior whose life changed dramatically when she donned a gypsy disguise to tell fortunes at a school carnival. She couldn’t really foresee the future, but she’d do her best as part of the school’s fundraising effort for the PTA. Clarissa felt a momentary awkwardness when the very dishy Damien Stark and his girlfriend, Blair Hadley, entered her tent. She couldn’t help but wonder why Blair dragged him in for fortune-telling. Blair had Damien, popularity, and was pretty hot herself; what more could she want from life? Blair’s big question for the pretend-psychic was whether she would make the cheering squad in college the following year. Clarissa saw death in Blair’s immediate future and begged Damien to get his girlfriend home and keep her safe. but Damien and Blair just laughed at her distress. The experience shook Clarissa, causing her to close up her tent early and go straight home herself. When she woke at noon the following day, her best friend Taylor delivered the stunning news: Blair was murdered the night before. Damien was sure it was a wolf though most were saying it must have been a large dog. But how did Clarissa know this would happen -- and what did this mean for her?

I often thought of writing a werewolf story and imagine it would be quite a lot like Suzana Thompson’s shifter romance/coming of age novel. Thompson gets the wild magic of the outdoors and the siren call of freedom I consider an integral part of the werewolf shifter genre. Her werewolves, aside from the murderous one whose act opens the story, are marvelous creations, their lifestyle infinitely appealing to those who live active lives and love the outdoors. Thompson’s plot is a solid one with enough twists and turns to keep the reader engaged and involved, and her characters are multifaceted and believable. I especially enjoyed those parts of the story that were set in Alaska. The Other Side of Midnight is a grand shifter romance for young and new adults: it’s most highly recommended.

An unusual death of one of their classmates permanently alters the lives of a group of teens in the enthralling paranormal novel, The Other Side of Midnight by Suzana Thompson. It is Clarissa's final year in high school, and she is planning on enjoying it to the fullest. While volunteering as a fortune teller for a PTA function, her life suddenly veers off course. When performing a crystal ball reading for Damien and Blair, two of her classmates, Clarissa's prognostic pretense vanishes, and an ominous feeling encompasses her. Frightened for Blair's life, Clarissa prevails upon Damien to take Blair straight home and to make sure she stays there. However, her warnings are met with disdain and contempt. Later that night, Damien is injured, and Blair is killed in an assault by a large canine creature. When Damien returns to school, everything changes for Clarissa, Damien, and their close friends. Convinced that danger is lurking nearby, Damien insists that they should all be alert, and Clarissa should be wary of her best friend's boyfriend. What does he know that no one else perceives? Are they susceptible to another attack?

The Other Side of Midnight by Suzana Thompson is a thrilling paranormal novel depicting the lives of teenage lycanthropes. With a chilling plot, engaging characters, and a setting with an eerie ambiance, it is a breathtaking story that held me captive until the final page. Plentiful in action and suspense, the story moves along at an even pace, culminating in a dramatic ending. It is an enthralling book mirroring spooky fireside tales that have been passed down for generations. Seasoned with romance, it is a fabulous supernatural young adult novel that will delight those who relish werewolf stories based on myths with a realistic and modern twist.

In The Other Side of Midnight by Suzana Thompson, dressed as a psychic for her school carnival, Clarissa Harris is forced to give a fortune-telling reading to two of the most popular kids in the school. Damien Stark and his annoying but beautiful girlfriend, Blair Hadley. Suddenly out of nowhere, Clarissa has a strong sense that something dreadful is going to happen. She warns them to go home immediately and stay inside. They mock and laugh at her premonition. That night Damien is witness to Blair's brutal murder by something resembling a wolf. Wolves in Ohio are almost unheard of. As Damien tries to forget the horrific night he lost Blair, his behavior becomes quite unsettling and strange. He also begins to take an unusual interest in Clarissa. When a new boy called Bryce arrives at their school, more strange events occur that draw Clarissa and her best friend Taylor into a dangerous and bizarre world. Clarissa is sure Bryce is hiding something. The question everyone wants answering is who or what killed Blair? When Damien discovers the truth, he is determined to seek revenge.

The Other Side of Midnight by Suzana Thompson had me hooked from the start. The action began almost immediately and continued until the very end. The characters were strong and created with authenticity and careful consideration. The dialogue was superb and completely suited the personalities of each character. Clarissa was an incredible character; fearless, caring, and warm-hearted. The plot has everything I enjoy in a novel; intrigue, lots of suspense, and plenty of twists and turns. As well as murder, jealousy, revenge, and of course werewolves and psychic abilities, the novel takes a very authentic look at teenage relationships and friendships. The author has cleverly scattered some cryptic clues throughout which really kept my interest. The novel is completely enthralling. I never expected such an ending but I was not disappointed at all; it was perfect.

It all starts with a premonition that leads to an actual disaster. The result is a spooked Clarissa as she never imagined her acting as a fortune-teller would become real. Damien, who survives the unfortunate turn of events, never remained the same after the incident. Even though she had a crush on him during freshman year, his sudden interest in her seems out of place and insensitive since he had just recently lost his girlfriend. However, Clarissa finds it hard to resist him, even with his weird behavior. As the full moon draws near, some dark, dreadful secrets unfold, including the discovery of a possible killer in her high school. Is Clarissa strong enough to suppress her emotions, and can she escape the plans of the killer within their midst? Suzana Thompson's The Other Side of Midnight is a brilliant young adult werewolf romance.

Jam-packed with teenage drama, werewolf action, and tantalizing romance, The Other Side of Midnight is an incredibly fun and enticing read. Suzana Thompson's paranormal, open-ended narrative made me think of different possibilities while I lost myself completely in it. The book has elements of coming of age as it includes a lengthy timeframe of the teenage characters, especially towards the end. I loved how the voice and attitude of the protagonist comes through clearly and had my full attention. Every other character in the book is portrayed soundly with fully defined personalities and highly entertaining interactions. Expect some language usage and mildly sexual scenes. If you like Stephenie Meyer's Twilight Saga Series and Annette Curtis Klause's Blood and Chocolate, you would definitely enjoy The Other Side of Midnight.

The Other Side of Midnight is a young adult werewolf romance novel by author Suzana Thompson. It follows Clarissa Harris, a high school senior who gets herself embroiled in a murder mystery involving her classmate Blair by accidentally predicting her oncoming death. Complicating matters is Blair's boyfriend and prime witness to her murder, Damien, Clarissa's childhood crush. Clarissa finds out that Blair and Damien were attacked by a werewolf, leading to Blair's death. Meanwhile, a new student named Bryce arrives at school and gets thrown into the mix as he starts having a relationship with Clarissa's best friend, Taylor. Clarissa must now keep her feelings for Damien on hold if she is to save herself and her friends and figure out the identity of the rogue werewolf.

Despite treading the familiar path of teen werewolf romance, Suzana Thompson succeeds in telling a fresh new story with a well-structured plot. The Other Side of Midnight never pretends to be something it's not and fully embraces the familiar tropes of the genre, all the while avoiding most of its pitfalls. Clarissa's relationship with Damien is the focal point of the story and drives the narrative. The characters are typical high school students that most teenagers and young adults can relate to. I found the dialogue a bit cheesy at times, but the other aspects of The Other Side of Midnight make up for it. It's a quick read, and I would recommend it to the fans of teenage vampire/werewolf romance novels.
