Logan Thibault, a US Marine, is in Iraq for his 3rd tour of duty. On one of his rounds he happens upon a picture of a pretty girl half hidden in the sandy dirt. The woman in the picture intrigues him! Should he toss it? Instead, Logan takes it back to the base and posts it on a bulletin board for all to see, but no one ever claims it. Logan puts the picture in his pocket, and soon he has a run of good fortune! His fellow marines think the picture is a lucky charm... could it be? It's just a picture of a girl he's never seen before. Logan can't stop thinking about her. When his tour of duty ends he heads home to Colorado to return to a normal life, but the picture haunts him! The only way to satisfy his curiosity is to find out who she is. Logan, with his dog, sets off walking across the country...thinking this woman holds the key to his future. He finds out where she lives, and sets out to meet her. He finds a woman with strong determination who is raising a young child, and helping her grandmother run a kennel. He falls in love with her keeping the picture a secret...which may bring their love to a tragic end!
This story captured my attention immediately! I was hooked, and never wanted to stop listening. It is so well-written; I felt Logan's anguish and joy! This book was a true love story! I give it a 5 out of 5 rating.
