The Lord’s Prayer: For All God’s Children written by Harold L. Senkbeil and illustrated by Natasha Kennedy is a must-have resource for Christian parents teaching their young ones how to pray. The Lord’s Prayer refers to the model prayer found in Matthew 6 and Luke 11 that Jesus taught to his disciples. Aware that his intended audience may not be able to read yet, Senkbeil tailors his writing style to expound the scriptures in a way that will spark a conversation between the child and the guardian doing the reading. The emphasis throughout is on the love of Jesus for children and God’s desire for them to communicate with Him. In addition to the biblical tone and easy-to-digest content, the vibrant illustrations are bound to capture children’s attention.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I appreciated that it is non-denominational and that the intent behind this work is a genuine desire for parents to train their children with a passion for the Lord. I was enchanted by Kennedy’s art. Each page features an illustration inspired by a part of the gospel. I am glad that the artwork portrays men, women, and children of all shades as the recipients of His love. Children will also enjoy having to find a fat cat that is hidden on each page. I highly recommend The Lord's Prayer by Harold Senkbeil to all parents of young children.
