The Little Star Fisher by Rachel Morgan is the whimsical story of a little boy who lived in a small village where the Star Fishermen lived. Every night they sat in their boats and fished for stars, some big, some small, and some red as Mars. One night the little boy sat atop a mountain peak and cast his line into the sky. He plucked a star that was way too high and when it came down he cracked it open. A coin which was as round as a lollipop fell out and the little boy began to fish again because he wanted more coins. He set his eyes on Polaris and he pulled the star down with four tugs. What are the treasures he gets that night?
The story is fun, magical, and enchanting and the author will let the imaginations of children run wild. The rhymes and the bright artwork by Marta Magnetti Codrai make the book appealing and captivating to young readers and will make them wonder what stars are made of. The artwork is fabulous and brings alive the scenes, the stars, the sunrise, mountains, and the hidden magic that lingers throughout the story. The magic of the story coupled with its whimsical illustrations make the book appealing to readers of all age groups. I loved the book, the artwork, and the way it has been presented. It is a perfect storybook for bedtime storytelling and can be used for fun and interactive sessions in classrooms because of the concept. It will help children dream and reach for the stars, like the little boy in the story.
