Leigh Anne Fortner is a Speech-Language Pathologist and children’s book author. Her knowledge of language and childhood development, combined with her creativity, has enabled her to produce heart-warming stories that inspire young children to learn and grow.
Leigh Anne hopes to create a positive impact on others by donating all net proceeds from her books to local non-profits in her community. She resides in Conway, Arkansas and is the mother of two little bookworms.

The Light by Leigh Anne Fortner is a heart-warming reminder that God’s love is always present and a gift freely given to all. A lonely widow stands at a window watching a little boy dance as he plays outside when suddenly he tires and falls. The child’s mother lovingly picks up the boy, consoling him as she hugs him gently. This kindness strikes a chord with the elderly woman, prompting her to call her daughter, who has been concerned about her. The old lady explains to her daughter that depression had seeped in, but after witnessing the young woman's unconditional love, there was light because Christ’s love is always near.
Leigh Anne Fortner’s writing style is beautiful and thought-provoking for children and parents alike. The illustrations keep pace with the rhyme by displaying delightful scenes of flowers and hope. I could almost feel the sadness radiate off the pages with the pictures and verses depicting the widow struggling to reach out to her daughter. This part brought tears to my eyes. After my stepfather's death, I became a caregiver to my elderly mother. I worry about her becoming depressed due to loneliness. Being alone is difficult for anyone who has experienced loss, but The Light is a beautiful reminder that we are never without God’s love. I wholeheartedly believe that this work will become a cherished addition to our family bookshelf, and I look forward to more books from this author.
