Author Biography

International Award-Winning & Bestselling Author of Sam Jardine Crime Conspiracy Thrillers Series.
Christopher Hepworth has been a professional negotiator for over thirty years, with some of the largest and best-known companies in the world. He has won numerous prestigious awards in his chosen profession of procurement and developed many of the strategies and techniques that are now widely used across the industry.

Born in the UK in 1961 & raised in Zambia in central Africa like his hero, Wilbur Smith, Christopher now lives in Sydney, Australia with his wife, Anne & four children.

The exotic characters in his books reflect his fascination with the charismatic & proud, but often maligned warrior nations around the world, whose stories are screaming to be told. In his books, Christopher’s desk-bound corporate warriors come face to face with those proud peoples, who have suffered the misfortunes of fate & history but their dignity & aspirations remain intact.

Christopher Hepworth has created a new brand of hero for the twenty-first century. Like James Bond, or the lawyers of John Grisham’s thrillers, Sam Jardine must use his occupational skills to thwart the ambitions of ruthless villains who seek to subordinate the world with their depraved sense of moral values. Armed only with a sense of justice, respect for ancient warrior cultures & an extraordinary talent for negotiation, can he win the day or will he be engulfed in the cesspit of corporate politics? For the sake of world peace, let’s hope Sam Jardine is up to the task.

The Last Oracle by Christopher Hepworth is a conspiracy thriller, the third in the Sam Jardine series. Rex Dangerfield’s fracking company is aiming to tap into a gas seam in the Greenland ice shelf, a move that will cause untold damage to the environment and the climate. Dangerfield has an enemy though, the one person that will stand in his way and stop him from causing disaster – his daughter. Her mother was Egyptian and she is the Oracle of the Temple of Sekhmet; her job is to stop people like her father from destroying the world. Sam is recruited by the Oracle to try to change the way her father works but something else is standing in the way. A secret society will reap huge profits from the destruction and they will do whatever it takes to remove Sam from the equation. As events escalate, Jardine has to fight his way through corruption, past every person who will gain from the epic disaster about to unfold. Can he stop it in time or is the world about to be destroyed?

The Last Oracle by Christopher Hepworth is a frighteningly real story. Although it is the third of a series, there was enough information provided about the main protagonist so that not reading the previous books did not affect my enjoyment of this story and I believe that this could easily be read as a standalone. We are all aware of the climate changes happening across the world and we are all aware that some of it is down to the way we abuse this planet, stripping it of natural resources and forever changing the delicate balances in place. Both the story and the characters have real depth to them; the action starts from page one and continues right to the last page. The detail in the story is excellent, making for a novel that is real, compelling and truly engaging. It moves fast but never loses sight of the main issues, even through the many twists and turns. Great book, highly recommended for anyone who wants to lose themselves in an epic thriller.

The Last Oracle is the third in the Sam Jardine crime thrillers series of books by Christopher Hepworth. Set some time after the close of the Wulff Agenda, negotiator Sam Jardine has now joined the Daingerfield Oil company. Led by the often-brutal oil magnate Rex Daingerfield, Sam finds himself paired with his daughter Sienna in a bid for the fracking company to expand into renewable energy. Sam accompanies Sienna to Egypt as she resumes her post as the “Oracle of Sehkmet” while he is to head up the new solar division of Daingerfield. Aided by a beautiful, well connected executive, Sam attempts to keep the fledgling company afloat but learns that this may not be easy. When a group of engineers in his employ are attacked and annihilated by radical Islamic terrorists, Sam finds himself rescued and nursed back to health by the Oracle. While under Sienna’s care, Sam learns how close the Earth is to an environmental crisis and vows to help her stop it, even if this means opposing his employer’s fracking operations. As Sam undertakes this task he quickly learns that this will involve confronting terrorists, corrupt politicians and a shadow society all seeking to stop him to further their own agendas.

This latest installment in Sam Jardine’s world is packed with action from start to finish. While this is the third book in the series and having only previously read “The Sleepwalker Legacy” it was not hard to fill in any blanks that may have been found in the story along the way. Christopher Hepworth does a great job tailoring these novels to be read as either stand-alone reads or part of a much bigger series. In “The Last Oracle”, Sam finds himself in impossible situations and exotic places. As he traveled from the U.S. to Egypt, Greenland and Canada on his mission to stop an environmental calamity, Sam struck me as a modern day “Indiana Jones” with possibly a dash of “James Bond” tossed in for good measure. The addition of the ancient Egyptian goddess Sekhmet and Sienna as her oracle added an element of mysticism to the narrative that provided a perfect opposition to the extremist element that was also present. The further I got into this book, the more I wondered whether Sam and ultimately the Earth would survive. No matter what your views are on the current issue of climate change, “The Last Oracle” will provide a thrilling read that may leave you with a different perception than you initially had. After reading “The Last Oracle” it will be interesting to see what new ventures and adventures await Sam Jardine in the next chapter of this series.

This was my first Sam Jardine novel that I have read. But it won’t be my last! It is a fast paced thriller, full of suspense and intrigue. I found the environmental crisis that was put into this book well researched and the results terrifying. With a dash of reality and fantasy combined with a blue whale and an Egyptian princess and a negotiator for an oil mogul it’s a fast paced novel and hard to put down. I received an advanced copy for an honest review.

Best Action Thriller I've Read This Year

His is the best action story I've read this year. It's an environmental techno-thriller that somehow manages not to be preachy as Hepworth packs his pages with an Egyptian goddess, an oil and gas magnate, a healthy sample of Washington movers and shakers and a hero, in Sam Jardine, who would do such classics as Clive Cussler's Dirk Pitt proud. Hepworth tells the story with a combination of wit and compassion and a careful attention to detail and the current world scene that frequently brought a smile or a nod as recent news events find their counterparts in the Sam's story.

I loved this story and couldn't wait to find out how the looming financial and environmental crises would be resolved.

This one deserves more stars than I could assign it.

This is the second FABULOUS book that I've read by this author (Christopher Hepworth) and he did not let me down!! No spoilers here. Let me start by saying that although this is part of the Sam Jardine series it is easily read and easy to get into as a stand alone. I went into this book a little bit skeptical only because of the description of the book, but having read this author before, I kept an open mind. I was NOT sorry! The book was captivating, the characters engaging, and the story was excellent from the very first to the very last word! Totally action packed, fast paced, great plot, with a few of the same characters from the other books, but also it doesn't detract if you haven't read the previous books! Love this author! Can't wait for more by him! I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

A Haunting Financial and Climate Thriller!

An engrossing financial thriller that explores and reveals the appalling degree of greed and manipulation of a few for their own financial gain and political notoriety.

Sam Jardine is once again being called in to negotiate a monumental deal. Known by many as a gifted yet quirky negotiator, Jardine is known for getting the job done. His sense of morals and ethical behavior presents him as naïve but he is far smarter and all too often underestimated by most.
Jardine is asked to negotiate a deal that enmeshes him into a battle with a secret organization of men who are willing to sacrifice the environment for greed and political gain while also dealing with terrorists. In the end, Jardine must make hard decisions that could spin the world into global catastrophic financial and environmental disasters. All the while keeping a promise to an ancient one and trying to save his brother, Jack.

Christopher Hepworth is a masterful storyteller weaving complex situations by placing Jardine in unnerving encounters and non-stop action. Hepworth creates a realistic plot with believable and strong characters. I have admired Hepworth for his repeated use of strong female characters.
This is not a book that one can put down once started; Hepworth is enthralling and unexpected. His clever plot twists are flawless and his understanding of human nature is frighteningly accurate. One cannot read this and walk away from it unscathed, you will be haunted by it!

I enjoyed each of Hepworth's books immensely and look forward to Sam Jardine's next adventure!

A thrill ride with a message

This is a book it took me awhile to understand, but then I got it. What do Oracles, climate change and fracking have to do with each other? We have to protect this earth, but at what cost? Oil companies are needed, but they have to be responsible for their actions. This is not a preachy book, and it's not religious either, but you understand where the characters are coming from and why they chose to do what they do. And Sam is right in the middle of it, trying to protect our planet doing the right thing, sometimes at great cost. Well worth reading. It is part of a series but it stand alone with no cliffhanger. Just read it already!

Fiction melds chillingly with reality

The Last Oracle is a standalone novel, and the third in the Sam Jardine series. Christopher Hepworth’s thoroughly researched novels go from strength to strength, and in his latest offering, fiction melds chillingly with reality as our fallible hero grapples with the challenges of environmental – and ideological – terrorism, taking him (and the readers) to the US, Canada, Scotland, Zambia, the harsh environment of Greenland, as well as the White Desert in Egypt.
The Last Oracle is fast paced, yet it is vividly descriptive and at times heart-stopping. Sam’s flawed but courageous personality and sense of humour make him a likeable but, more importantly, believable hero. A man who uses his quick instincts, negotiating prowess and intelligence to save himself and others from seemingly hopeless situations. I highly recommend The Last Oracle, and if you haven’t already read them, Christopher’s previous two novels, The Sleepwalker Legacy and The Wulff Agenda, are also recommended. They are equally exciting page-turners, and you really get to know Sam Jardine’s history, his legacy, and his flaws.

Another Intriguing book from Christopher Hepworth!

While this is the third book in the series it is a stand alone read. Like the previous Sam Jardine novels it is an exciting read filled with twists and turns. Once you start reading this book you will find it very difficult to put down. Another Christopher Hepworth novel I highly recommend!
