The King of No: A Financial Firefighter by Loyall Wilson follows the work of a financial firefighter. The author has held several positions in the company, including Executive Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer, Chief Anti-Money Laundering Officer, and Chief Cyber Security Officer, but he came to be known as the one who stood between financial thieves and their victims. In this book, the author shares stories of salespersons who steal huge sums of money from clients, in ways that are intelligent and subtle, and helps readers identify the red flags and learn how to protect their investments. One of the striking stories is that of Tony who is adored by Ms. Smith. As her financial advisor for years, Ms. Smith believes that she makes a fortune because of him and while she actually receives a substantial return on her savings, the guy virtually steals her entire savings. This book shows readers how this happens and how to avoid such financial traps.
In the opening paragraph, the author writes: "When I took this job, I had no idea what I was in for, that I would become the first and only African American officer in the history of the company and, by the end of my career, I would have fired a few dozen people and put a few dozen more in prison for stealing millions of dollars from clients." The author takes readers through his adventures with financial thieves and fraudsters and shares how he was able to stop them, putting many into prison. The King of No: A Financial Firefighter is written in a style that is easy to read and sprinkled with humor. It is an eye-opener for anyone looking to protect their investments, hugely informative and very engaging.
