The Jack O'Rourke Series - Second Beginnings, by Kristi M. Washbourn is a typical teen story. Jack moves to a new town and it's her first day in school. Though she is nervous on the first day, her confidence and positive personality surfaces and she ends up making both friends and enemies. She has to deal with a trio of mean girls and a black sedan constantly watching her house.
The story is the usual teen novel. Girl moving to a new town and struggling to adjust in school. Though this theme has been written about by many authors, the book is still charming. There is something very appealing about the narration. The author is very descriptive and dialogues between Jack and her friends and the other characters are etched out very well. Jack and her behavior like any other teenager is handled well.
The story of The Jack O'Rourke Series - Second Beginnings takes a twist when Jack finds the money she has collected for the art show fundraiser missing. The reader also goes through some anxious moments while going through those parts and is relieved when Jack decides to stay strong and fight back.
The story is fast paced. You want to read it at one go. The school, the children, their activities, and the anxious moments are relived once again while reading this book. There is the mystery element too with the black sedan which makes the story intriguing. Will Jack find out who it in the black sedan and why it is outside her house watching?
