Alexis never asked for his powers, nor does he want them. All they have ever given him is pain and loneliness, and now he is called upon by his elder, Caius, to return home. In Jackie Forster’s The Immortal Wanderer, Alexis has come home to a vampire retreat, only to find the uprising against his people by the nightwalkers is growing into a battle the vampires cannot win on their own. Through the insights of a seer, Alexis knows he must seek out the help of a young woman who can restore the 'turned' to their human lives, while helping to defeat the evil killers, the nightwalkers. After an altercation with a young woman named Jess in the nearby town, one that leaves a burning hand print on Alexis’s chest, a series of events unfolds to reveal the young woman’s true nature. And so begins the tortuous battle against evil and the torment inside Alexis.
The Immortal Wanderer by Jackie Forster is a modern day vampire tale told from the dual perspective of Alexis and the one he is to share his gifts with, Jess. I enjoyed this refreshing story line of a vampire’s tale. It had nuances that I have never read before, and it kept me curious the whole read. I really liked Alexis’s character, gentle yet powerful. I don’t recall the last time I read a story with a dual perspective, and I rather appreciated the change from the typical view point. The Immortal Wanderer is a fast read that captivates with the unique perspective of both characters. This supernatural legend comes with a different kind of story line that adds to the intrigue and keeps you curious. Find out what ties Alexis and Jess have to each other and if their special bond will be enough to defeat the onslaught of the nightwalkers. The enchanting characters and a sudden ending will leave you wanting more!
