The Hollywood Trap: Underground in Tinseltown by John F. Wilkie is a crime fiction novel set in one of the world's most controversial places: Hollywood. When Jay, a homeless young musician, steps off a bus at Hollywood & Vine, he only has $10 in his pocket. Feeling like a complete stranger, he has left home and family behind and must find a way to survive. He immediately meets Hollywood's underground characters and is thrust into its underbelly. What follows is a roller coaster ride of parties, drugs, crime, celebrity parties, auditions, and dangerous brushes with the law as he sinks deeper and deeper into the Hollywood trap.

John F. Wilkie's The Hollywood Trap: Underground in Tinseltown is an intimate look at the adventures and misadventures of a struggling artist in the 1980s Hollywood. Dialogue-driven, fast-paced and intense, the story begins at a bus stop and ends in a police chase all the way down Santa Monica Boulevard onto the '405-South' freeway. The way to success is indeed as complicated as a long and winding road that seems to lead to nowhere, and this is especially true in Tinseltown. John F. Wilkie certainly knows his subject matter, so much so that the characters in his stories become bigger than life and one can easily empathize with them. And one could say that behind the glitter of Hollywood a dark abyss is hidden where many young people find themselves. The Hollywood Trap: Underground Tinseltown is a must-read book for everyone dreaming of a place under the sun.
