A story that starts with a White Witch losing all her powers while young girls are captured already announces that something awful could be happening. The Heir of Woodmyst by Robert E Kreig is book three in The Woodmyst Chronicles, an exciting story of courage, loss, and love that will be an enjoyable read for fans of fantasy fiction.
Seven girls are captured and held in an impenetrable castle while others are captives in awful conditions. The land is besieged by a very dark power, and fear and a seething sense of restlessness rule in the hearts of men. Tomas Warde is the only hope of his people, but with just his small group of followers the chances of successfully liberating the captives and defeating the evil Sovereign are really slim. It’s exciting to watch as the small group faces all sorts of dangers to give freedom to their people, but for how long will luck continue to smile on them?
The Heir of Woodmyst is a book that makes your heart beat faster. Kreig’s unique voice rings out very clearly through each page of this beautiful story. The prose is delightfully beautiful, with vivid descriptions that transport readers into strange places. The book is fast-paced, with sub-plots that bring in the element of suspense, which is biting. The characters are drawn from a world that readers may find a bit strange, but can still identify with. Kreig has that uncanny ability to combine fantasy with reality to create a story and a world that readers can easily step inside and enjoy. Wonderful read.
