Get ready for a 'ribbiting' story! Daniel Georges has another book in his My Crazy Stories Series. The Good For Nothing Frogs not only has lots of frogs but a grouchy king and a crocodile chef. It starts with a very lazy King Grouchel who has hired an aspiring crocodile chef named Krockel, (do not call him a cook!). All King Grouchel likes to do is sleep but it must be quiet. One rainy night a strange noise disturbs King Grouchel’s sleep. He looks out to see hundreds of frogs. This gives Chef Krockel an idea for a tasty dish and they proceed to capture the frogs. It is exhausting work, and they sleep for a long time, long enough to realize how important frogs really are to our ecosystem.

The Good For Nothing Frogs by Daniel Georges has a fun creepy feel to it. The castle setting and quirky illustrations will delight kids and keep them glued to the story. Librarians, teachers, and parents will enjoy reading this aloud because of all the great sound effects from snoring to ribbiting. I loved the way that Georges has tied in not only a great self-worth message but also an ecological message as well. We are all good for something even if other people do not recognize it. That includes not only people but all creatures too! Thank goodness for frogs who love to eat bugs like mosquitoes. The Good For Nothing Frogs shares this message in a way kids will remember and enjoy.
