The Four Suitors is a work of fiction in the fantasy, interpersonal drama, and adventure subgenres. It is intended for the young adult reading audience and was penned by author Sophie Jupillat Posey. We follow the delightful and engaging tale of Princess Laetitia of Avaritia, a headstrong young woman who is unexpectedly faced with the prospect of marriage. Laetitia's parents, the king and queen, present her with four very different suitors, each skilled at their own unique craft: a philosopher, an astronomer, an artist, and a necromancer. As the story unfolds, the plot takes an intriguing turn when Laetitia and Sir Blaxton, one of her suitors, delve into solving a mysterious disease that is plaguing the kingdom.
Author Sophie Jupillat Posey has crafted a highly imaginative and engaging work where Laetitia's journey from a rebellious princess to a determined leader is both entertaining and inspiring. What makes this book so enjoyable is the character of Laetitia herself. She's a strong-willed and independent princess who doesn't conform to traditional expectations. Her efforts to resist learning about her suitors' crafts while simultaneously trying to prove herself as a worthy wife provide much of the book's humor and charm. The author utilizes fantastic dialogue exchanges and a unique portrayal of her attitude to make her deeply relatable and fun to read about. Overall, The Four Suitors is not just a story about romance but also about self-discovery, teamwork, and uncovering corruption within the kingdom. I would not hesitate to recommend it as an empowering read for young adults and for the young at heart seeking something fresh, cool, and original to get lost in.
